Thor Bjornsson humbled quite badly during training session with king of jiu-jitsu Gordon Ryan

Thor Bjornsson has been speaking about his humbling training session with first-degree Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Gordon Ryan.

Ryan is undoubtedly the best no-gi grappler of all time after he recently cruised through the biggest test of his career to win the ADCC World Championship and extend his perfect four-year run.

So, naturally, Thor wanted to test himself against the American who opened up his gym to the former World’s Strongest Man the day before he is set to face the last man to beat him, Vinny Magalhaes.

Both men uploaded footage from the playful sparring session to social media, and it showed the 6’9”, 24 stone, strongman being easily handled by a submission specialist half his size.

"Literally went against the best and got humbled quite badly,” Thor - who played The Mountain in Game of Thrones 0 wrote alongside the video on Instagram.

“I got the opportunity to meet up with Gordon Ryan while he was doing his last workout before he competes tomorrow.

"I love trying out new sport and what a pleasure it was. Excited to watch Gordon crush his opponent tomorrow! This guy is next level!”

This is not the first time Thor has tested himself against an elite-level combat sports star, as he previously sparred with Conor McGregor who was at the peak of his powers when they met in 2015.

The size difference was ridiculous, as the Game of Thrones actor dwarfed the Irish fighter and had a serious weight advantage, but didn’t use it as they chased each other around the mat, grappling and trading friendly shots.

Thor also trained for a boxing match with long-time rival Eddie Hall, which happened in March and was billed as ‘The Heaviest Boxing Match in History.’

The former World’s Strongest Man winners – who weighed a combined 47 stone for the bout – finally got to settle their rivalry in Dubai in a six-round exhibition that ebbed and flowed.

Ultimately, Thor walked away with a unanimous decision win after dropping his rival twice during the bout that was scored 57-54 in his favour by all three of the ringside judges.
